The construction of the new Swift Current 6 chair has restarted this spring after taking a halt last summer due to the pandemic and the chair will be ready for the 2021-2022 ski season. Travelling at an incredible 1,200 feet per minute, the new Swift Current chair will be the fastest 6-person chairlift in North America. It will improve uphill capacity by up to 50% and consistently transport 3,000 skiers per hour, ensuring guests are spending more time on the powdery slopes of Big Sky instead of wasting time in lift lines.
As part of their 2025 vision and long term goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2055, the new Swift Current 6 chairlift joins the existing Ramcharger 8 Chair in being the most technologically advanced chairlifts in North America. The new Swift Current chair will showcase Doppelmayr's gearless direct drive motor technology, creating significantly increased reliability and energy efficiency as well as a whisper-quiet, smooth ride. Progressive safety features include automatically unlocking safety bars, adjustable loading carpets to ensure kids get on and off the lift safely, and speaker systems at each lift tower for emergency communication.
There is also no lack of comfort when it comes to Swift Current's chair design. Boasting individual footrests and headrests, extra-wide heated seats and Big Sky Blue weatherproof bubbles, guests are ensured to stay warm and cozy even on the coldest days while on the ride up between ski laps. Check it out for yourself and ride up in style this winter at Big Sky Resort!
